Wonder Boy: Tony Hsieh, Zappos, and the Myth of Happiness in Silicon Valley
Tony Hsieh was a high-flying, legendary entrepreneur; he sold his first company for $265 million and the second for $1.2 billion. He became famous for touting employee happiness as the secret of his success; CEOs trooped to his company's headquarters to learn about the Hsieh way. He wrote a best-selling book titled Delivering Happiness.
But, Hsieh passed away in November 2020 under mysterious circumstances; he was 46 years old. Further investigations revealed that Hsieh suffered from drug abuse and erratic behavior in his final years, and lawsuits alleged that some friends and close associates took advantage of Hsieh's unstable state to milk him for millions of dollars.
While Hsieh was delivering happiness to employees, his life wasn't as rosy as it seemed. This book examines Hsieh's arc of unprecedented success through the unfortunate events that led to his death.
